Only 60 students were selected for the final round from North Carolina.  Troy has informed me that they will select between 75 and 80 students to receive this prestigious award.   Wish him luck in his final round which will take place March 1-4 at UNC.

informational flyer

We were just informed that South Lenoir High School will be recognized by the state Department of Public Instruction in February as a Triple “S” Super Safe School.

Schools wishing to be recognized by the State Board of Education as “A Triple ‘S’ School (Super Safe School)”, had to submit an application showing evidence of certain criteria in our school.

The overall goal is to recognize schools for decreasing the incidence of school crime and violence, and implementing strategies for maintaining safe, orderly and caring schools, as evidenced by school data. The recognition process is strictly voluntary and is competitive. Thanks to teacher, Jean Smith, who has worked diligently on the application process for this recognition. Way to go Jean!
